When you scan headlines or watch the news you can‘t help but get the feeling that life is a risky business. There are global incidents, threats of war, Mother Nature’s destructive hurricanes and floods ... and it’s all above the fold on page one.
Living is a risk. Happiness is a risk. Love is a risk. If you’re not nervous at times, you’re not doing it right. But risk has its rewards. If the life you’re living keeps you in a comfort zone, think about the life you’re not living and the opportunities you are missing.
Give yourself permission to make mistakes. Embrace change. Reach for opportunity. Sure, you may trip up but you will learn and recover and grow into a stronger self.
It’s never too late to live a day that makes you proud. We get one shot at the present––one shot to make it great. There is no age limit. You can start and stop whenever you want. It’s up to you to make the best of it.
Do something that startles you. Take a chance. Make a new friend. Feel things you’ve never felt before. Engage with people who can help you grow. Live a life that makes you proud and if you find that you’re not, have the courage to change.
Your past gave you the strength and wisdom you have today, so celebrate it. Stop focusing on old problems and things that cloud your future. The more you think about that stuff, the more you become your own worst enemy. Focus on positive change and move on.
Get out of the ‘poor me rut.’ Negative things that rattle around in your mind have just one thing in common: you.
The good news is you can change anything you want to change. What are you waiting for?
